A very expensive hospital on wheels is no longer necessary to administer first aid in most communities. Fire departments have so little work that EMS duties were attached to them, but at great public expense. As technology has evolved so has the availability of quick care facilities as well as medical franchises that offer emergency care. Smart phones and the Internet also allow for better care and communication between medical facilities and those needed emergency assistance.
The medical transport industry knows how to save money for taxpayers by using the symbolic logic of mathematics. If private enterprise is able to provide this service for much less, then contractors could be hired by the state to take this burden off the shoulders of taxpayers. An even better alternative is reform of public services that allows Maine Safety and Security to change for the great benefit of taxpayers and the public.
Local communities seem to purchase all the bells and whistles because of special interest demands. A great deal of the tax money raised by local communities is spent on services and equipment of a bygone era. Predictive policing, as well as information technology development, has yet to be of any proven value to taxpayers and residents of municipalities nationwide. Excessive spending goes on unabated.
Logical reasoning and common sense as well as respect for the taxpayer needs to be reflected at the local level in spite of the end of democracy and the rise of the American oligarchy. Government needs to develop a moral conscience when it comes to spending that is out of control and a victim of the Age of Greed. Making communities livable again needs to be a clearly defined objective of what is left of elective government as a New Age begins.
